BMX

Although BMX riders aren’t for trails per se, OTC would like to help establish a BMX track, and/or Dirt Jump facility in Oceanside. Hopefully one of the current 5 skateparks will start to allow bikes, as currently no parks in Oceanside allow bikes– Jim Crow anyone? (i.e. separate and not even equal) Dirt Jumping is usually considered a branch of mountain biking, or somewhere between BMX and mountain biking.

We’d like BMX riders, DJ, and Free Riders to join us to move as a united front, or start a branch of OTC specifically for BMX, DJ, and FR. We hope Oceanside will be the first in coastal southern California to have some trails with bike dirt jump and free ride specific features like Big Bear, and these facilities.

Current BMX Facilities in Southern California:

Potential Dirt Jumping sites:

  • The Fireside Bike site
  • The Ron Ortega Bike Site
  • El Corazon, which could add an Olympic Training track, like Chula Vista

Potential BMX Tracks:

  • The Ron Ortega Bike Site next to the YMCA, similar to the YMCA BMX Track in Orange, CA
  • El Corazon, which could add an Olympic Training track, like Chula Vista
